My heart is pained by the needless destruction. It is wonderful that you are repairing what you can. Young countries do not realize what they do, nor do they seem to care. When will the world stop the hate in their hearts?

By coincidence I was in Baghdad in October 2000 and had the unique privilege to visit the Archaeological musem during the brief time it was open to the public. Vicki Robb of LIFE for Relief and Development brought me and my US veterans delegation to admire the many beautiful objects in those astonishing rooms. I believe the museum was closed up again shortly after our visit, and now much of what was exhibited there is gone forever. Thank you very much for your project. The harpist buried at Ur and turned to dust all those centuries ago will be pleased that his harp and his music will live again.

This is a fantastic work and a beautiful replica of the original which I saw in the Baghdad Museum in 2000. I cannot describe my feelings for the tragic loss of art and history that has befallen Iraq. I hope this piece of art will forever remind us all of the beauty and sophistication of Iraq and the Iraqi people. What they are going through today seems impossible.
